Getting to know each other
We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating, and going to a new church for the first time often isn't any easier! It helps to know what to expect--whether you're vacationing in beautiful Morro Bay, just here for a visit, or looking for a new church home. No matter what, we want to help make your first experience at Shoreline Calvary a great one!
Shoreline Calvary meets every weekend and offers identical services* to choose from:
- Sundays at 9:00 am | 10:45 am
*Note, child care offered at the 10:45am service only. See the "What about my kids?" section below for more information about our SHORELINEkids Ministry!
LOCATION & DIRECTIONS
Shoreline Calvary is located at the intersection of Beach Street and Monterey Avenue in Morro Bay. We are in the Bell Tower Building of the former Morro Elementary School. There is parking for visitors in a small lot at Beach & Monterey. If that lot is full, continue left around the building to additional parking. Here's a map. We are only blocks from both downtown Morro Bay and the waterfront.
What can I expect?
In total, a Shoreline Calvary service is about 75 minutes in length. We begin with music (feel free to sit, stand, or lift up your hands--we just ask that you refrain from being a distraction to those around you.) In our time together, we set aside time to give people the opportunity to pray out loud, share scripture, or use their spiritual gifts in accordance with what the Bible teaches about these times together (1 Corinthians 12-14). After announcements and missions prayer, we transition to a time of Bible teaching from a pastor or guest speaker. (Currently, our verse-by-verse study is teaching through the Gospel of John.) We share communion every week and end our time together with additional songs.
SOME THINGS TO KNOW:
The Coffee House is located across the hall from the Sanctuary. You can stop by to grab something to drink (at no charge) and usually find a tasty treat too! Drinks with lids are okay in the Sanctuary.
If you're new to "church," you may have questions--and we'd love to help you find the answers! Find one of our ushers in the hallway and they'll be glad to help you. They wear a name tag on a lanyard and are ready to assist. We hope and pray that the Lord will bless you as you experience the love of Jesus at Shoreline.
What's the atmosphere like at SHORELINE calvary?
Sundays at Shoreline Calvary are friendly, casual, and relaxed. Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest.
As for our building, we meet in a former 1930's-era elementary school. It's old, nostalgic, and a little quirky--but we call it home and hope you will too!
What about my kids?
We believe that children should have a blast at church every single week, and at Shoreline Kids, we make this a priority. The other thing we make a priority is your children’s safety. Because of that, we have a detailed check-in process for our Shoreline Kids program the first time that you visit (and all the times after that!). You’ll want to leave yourself an extra 10 minutes to get signed in for the Shoreline Kids experience. Shoreline Kids is offered at 10:45 am for children ages infant through Middle School.
If you have children, you can bring them to our KIDS Check-In in the hallway. From there, we will get them plugged into the right classrooms while you attend church.
We know that some children just aren't ready to leave their parents. Children are always welcome to attend our services. To reduce distractions for everyone, we have a Family Room available. There are comfortable couches, a few toys for little ones, and a large-screen TV for viewing the message and joining in musical worship. For our nursing mothers, we've also got a small, private room with couches attached to the Family Room. Sound right for you? Feel free to ask an usher for directions and they'll point you to the Family Room.
