Getting to know each other
We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating, and going to a new church for the first time often isn't any easier! It helps to know what to expect--whether you're vacationing in beautiful Morro Bay, just here for a visit, or looking for a new church home. No matter what, we want to help make your first experience at Shoreline Calvary a great one!
Shoreline Calvary meets every weekend and offers identical services online and on lawn.
- Sundays at 10:00 am
LOCATION & DIRECTIONS
Shoreline Calvary is located at the intersection of Beach Street and Monterey Avenue in Morro Bay. We are in the Bell Tower Building of the former Morro Elementary School. There is parking for visitors in a small lot at Beach & Monterey. If that lot is full, continue left around the building to additional parking. Here's a map. We are only blocks from both downtown Morro Bay and the waterfront.
What can I expect?
In total, a Shoreline Calvary service is about 60 minutes in length. We begin with music (feel free to sit, stand, or lift up your hands--we just ask that you refrain from being a distraction to those around you.) After announcements and missions prayer, we transition to a time of Bible teaching from a pastor or guest speaker. (Currently, our verse-by-verse study is teaching through the Gospel of John.) We share communion every week and end our time together with an additional song.
SOME THINGS TO KNOW:
We are not currently serving coffee or food due to COVID-19. Our building is only open for bathroom use. Face masks are required in the building and encouraged on the lawn especially if social distancing cannot be maintained.
If you're new to "church," you may have questions--and we'd love to help you find the answers! Find one of our ushers in the hallway and they'll be glad to help you. They wear a name tag on a lanyard and are ready to assist. We hope and pray that the Lord will bless you as you experience the love of Jesus at Shoreline.
What's the atmosphere like at SHORELINE calvary?
Sundays at Shoreline Calvary are friendly, casual, and relaxed. Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest.
As for our building, we meet in a former 1930's-era elementary school. It's old, nostalgic, and a little quirky--but we call it home and hope you will too!
What about my kids?
We believe that children should have a blast at church every single week, and at Shoreline Kids, we make this a priority. The other thing we make a priority is your children’s safety. Because of the California COVID rules, the safest thing for the kids right now is to meet outside. We currently are meeting under the canopy on the front lawn.
Every week, there is a crafting area set up for the kids. They can stay 6ft apart, craft, and see their friends while parents listen to service. Parents can choose to be near or far; either way, your kids will never be out of sight. Because of this, there is no check-in or check-out system right now. However, there is a teacher with the kids who will help them and instruct them through the crafting and keep another eye out. After crafts, they will have worksheets that continue to move them through the lessons of the Bible.
We look forward to seeing our Shoreline Kids. They are such a beautiful part of the body of Christ.
Have a Middle Schooler? Our 6-8th graders are meeting during the service on the back field. It's a time of games, prayer and Bible study.
