Pastor Ed Compean
What I do: I’m the lead pastor at Shoreline. This means I seek the Good Shepherd to care for His people, preach His word, develop His leaders and keep His church on His mission.
How long have I been at Shoreline? I was honored to be called to Shoreline in August of 2016.
One thing most people don’t know about me: I’m not shy, but I am a total introvert.
A few of my favorite things: Discovering new places with my wife, Kelli. Seeing people transformed by the grace of Jesus. Going on a long trail run, getting a little lost and wondering if it’s going to end well. Often thinking the last wave I rode was the best of my life.
What I do:
I am a Professor of Computer Science at Cal Poly and co-Founder of Steadfast Innovation, LLC (creators of a handwriting app called Squid). I love participating in worship from the drum set and investing in the lives of young adults and college students.
How long I have been at Shoreline Calvary:
My family joined Shoreline in August 2006, just after we moved to Morro Bay from Kansas.
One thing most people don’t know about me:
I taught water-skiing in New Hampshire for two summers in college.
I am co-inventor on a patent for telecommunications fraud detection. (OK, that's two, but computer scientists start counting at zero.)
A few of my favorite things:
I love hanging out and traveling with my wife (Karen) and adult kids (Alex, June, Simon, Amber), visiting my parents on the farm in Kansas, eating international foods, and seeing lives transformed by Jesus.
What I do: I am a civil engineer and work for a firm in San Luis Obispo. At Shoreline, I serve as an elder and a member of the executive board. I've been helping run sound for our worship team for about seven years. More recently, I've balanced running sound with caring for my three and a half year old son while my wife leads on our worship team. Each year, I also oversee setup of our 'Easter at the Rock' event.
How long have I been at Shoreline: I started attending Shoreline in 2001 as a student at Cal Poly. I graduated from Shoreline's Calvary Chapel Bible College in 2007, and I was on staff in 2008 doing bookkeeping and missions finances.
One thing most people don’t know about me: Pete is a nickname I've had most of my life--my legal name is Kristopher.
A few of my favorite things: My family, hiking and backpacking, being outside, Courtright, tools and building, growing fruit trees.
Pastor Chris Vanoli
What I do: I am the Associate Pastor in charge of the Worship Ministry and Marriage & Parenting. I spend a lot of time discipling and counseling here at Shoreline. I also have a side business, Bronco Boxes.
How long I have been at Shoreline Calvary: Attended from 2000-2004 in college and came back to be on staff in 2014.
One thing most people don’t know about me: I’ve been run over by a car with no injuries.
A few of my favorite things: Jesus, hanging with my family, sports, music, hunting, page-turners.
